Illinois Plumbing Continuing Education

Illinois Plumbing Continuing Education in Elk Grove Village

Your Illinois plumbing licence renews every year, and renewal calls for continuing education hours. PlumbingEDU, the trading name of Plumbing Code Consultants, LLC, teaches four-hour IDPH-approved classes for licensed Illinois plumbers. The Wednesday evening sessions run in Elk Grove Village.

PlumbingEDU handles registration and payment on its own site, and answers class questions at (847) 379-1177. Excel Restoration takes calls at (866) 915-0333.

Four Hours, IDPH Approved, Counted Toward Renewal

The session runs four hours and serves licensed Illinois plumbers. PlumbingEDU states that its classes carry IDPH approval. Their site puts the requirement plainly. These classes are required for annual Illinois plumbing license renewal, consistent with section 705.205-C-5 of the Illinois Licensing Code. You attend, you sign out, and you leave holding the certificate that documents the hours.

Plumbing Code Consultants, LLC teaches the sessions and issues every certificate. Excel Restoration does neither. Excel Restoration is a water damage restoration company in Elk Grove Village, and its role here is smaller and more specific than teaching. The next section sets out what that role is. The credit itself comes from PlumbingEDU alone, and separating those two things matters if you are counting hours toward a renewal.

Take your code book with you. PlumbingEDU asks attendees to carry it, and builds the four hours around working through it rather than lecturing about it. Their own description sets the expectation. Bring your book and your code questions, try to stump the inspector, and get ready for an interactive day of learning.

Who Can Take the Class

Continuing education sessions serve licensed Illinois plumbers. Every certificate carries a licence number, so PlumbingEDU asks each attendee to register individually using their own. One shared booking does not produce a document for everybody sitting under it.

If you hold an apprentice licence rather than a plumber’s licence, this is not the session you need. PlumbingEDU runs separate programs for apprentices, and each one sets its own entry bar. Apprentice Code Training reaches only licensed apprentices who work for Illinois plumbing contractors. The Exam Prep Workshop and the Drawing Class both call for an 056 licence and a valid state ID. All three appear further down this page.

One more thing deserves saying plainly. PlumbingEDU describes its Apprentice Code Training as neither an accredited trade school nor a hiring or referral service. If you want a route into the trade rather than continuing education inside it, these programs do not offer that route.

Registering and What Happens on the Day

Registration runs entirely through PlumbingEDU. Their instruction leaves no room for doubt: you must register and pay online, using the calendars on their classes page. Their site describes no walk-in path.

The sequence looks like this.

  1. Choose a date and address from the calendars on plumbingedu.com.
  2. Pay online, one person at a time, under your own licence number.
  3. Arrive 30 minutes ahead of the start, when sign-in opens.
  4. Take your code book, along with whatever code questions the job has thrown at you lately.
  5. Leave with the certificate, handed over at sign-out.

Elk Grove Village runs Wednesday evenings and South Elgin runs Saturday mornings. Each licence number ties one certificate to one plumber. Teaching starts at the scheduled time rather than when the room fills.

PlumbingEDU also notes that dates and times change, and that sessions may be added or removed. That is why this page carries no schedule. The calendars on the PlumbingEDU classes page hold the only current dates. Anything copied here would fall out of step the moment they adjust it.

The Other Programs PlumbingEDU Runs

Continuing education is one of four programs. All three of the others run in South Elgin, not at the Elk Grove Village sessions. Each one meets a different point in a plumber’s career.

South Elgin

Exam Prep Workshop

A full day, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, capped at nine attendees. It covers all three sections of the Illinois plumbing exam. The written part runs to roughly 50 to 60 code questions. The drawing work is built around a two to three storey building with DWV systems. The practical section spans copper, cast iron, and PVC. Entry calls for an 056 apprentice licence, a valid state ID, and two forms of identification at registration. Pre-registration only, no walk-ins.

South Elgin

Apprentice Code Training

Twelve weeks of two-hour instruction, open only to licensed apprentices who work for Illinois plumbing contractors. Groups meet on set weeknights, all 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Monday covers the first year, Tuesday the second and third, and Thursday the fourth.

South Elgin

The Drawing Class

A four-hour session for licensed 056 apprentices. PlumbingEDU introduces it with a line worth repeating, because it explains why the class exists. Many apprentices say that the drawing portion of the Illinois State Plumbing Exam is the most difficult part.

All three take registrations through plumbingedu.com, the same as continuing education.

Common Questions

Your code book, and your licence number at registration. PlumbingEDU also encourages attendees to bring the code questions they have run into on site, since the four hours turn on working through them.

Online, through the calendars on plumbingedu.com. PlumbingEDU asks attendees to register and pay online, and limits how many seats each session holds.

PlumbingEDU asks each attendee to register individually with their own licence number. That is what lets every person walk out with a certificate rather than one document covering a group.

At sign-out, at the end of the session. Nobody mails it afterwards and no follow-up step stands between you and it.

Continuing education serves licensed Illinois plumbers. PlumbingEDU covers apprentices through Apprentice Code Training, the Exam Prep Workshop, and the Drawing Class, each with its own entry bar. Their site lists all three.

Where to Register
