The Glen Club

Since 1893, when America’s first 18-hole golf course was carved from Chicagoland dirt, golf has grown to become one of the country’s finest traditions. Since then, Chicago has staked its claim as one of North America’s premier golf destinations. That legacy continues today at The Glen Club, Tom Fazio’s North Shore masterpiece, which has established itself as Chicago’s leading golf destination for developing corporate connections, among other things.

The Glen Club is located on the former site of the Glenview Naval Air Station. It is surrounded by a 195-acre refuge that includes rolling landscape, dramatic elevation changes, peaceful lakes, trickling streams, and breathtaking views, including the distant Chicago cityscape.

This Top-100 Golf Course will challenge every golfer’s mettle, while a magnificent 48,000 square foot clubhouse includes outstanding cuisine, elegantly equipped overnight rooms, a big ballroom, and the finest in corporate facilities.

The Glen Club is committed to providing the finest in comfort, convenience, and luxury throughout your visit, from elegant business and eating facilities to overnight accommodations and personal service.

Golf Course Information

The Glen Club is a magnificent feat of engineering, created by famous golf course architect Tom Fazio.

The property was utilized as a Naval Air Base for almost 70 years, complete with runways and a three-foot elevation difference. Today, the area has been converted into a dynamic landscape characterized by rolling berms, breathtaking vistas, and naturally harmonic transitions.

The route has significant elevation changes – up to 40 feet on certain holes – mature trees and natural landscapes, meandering lakes and flowing streams. The layout has 75 acres of prairie grass that flows organically throughout.

Each of the magnificent par 3 holes faces a different direction on the compass. The par 5s are expansive and audacious, yet include adequate driving zones and wide bailout areas. Par 4s range in length from short and pleasant to lengthy and difficult. Numerous aspects of a brilliant Fazio design are there, providing a variety of challenges, from the conventional perched greens with bunkers to the magnificent peninsula greens threatened by water.

The closing 18th hole is one of the most scenic on the course, with two water features and strategically positioned bunkers that require precise tacking between safe areas. Walking off the 18th green will leave a lasting image of a magnificent test of skill set against the backdrop of a variety of outstanding golf courses.
